The Explorer Sport model from Ford Company is an excellent vehicle, and the great news for all the passengers is that we can expect even better Explorer model for next year. New 2018 Ford Explorer Sport will be improved in almost every segment, and we can clearly say that this will be the best Explorer so far. Compared to the previous model, there will be so many upgrades. More precisely, the front and the rear end will receive refreshed look while the cabin will provide more choices, and even better technology segment than before.
As we already know, this model is very popular in the United States, and the Company will do everything to keep it good. Back in 1991, this model debuted for the first time, and only that fact show us how good this model actually is. The Company, but also the customers expect a lot from the model for 2018, and in the following review, you will be able to find out something more about this beautiful vehicle. Stay with us and enjoy.
2018 Ford Explorer Sport Exterior design
The exterior design will receive some slight modifications from the front and rear side, but in general, this model isn’t so much different compared to 2017 model. If you visited 2017 New York Auto Show, then you probably saw this vehicle, but if you didn’t, then we will try to present you its appearance as best as we can. First of all, let’s start from the front side. Here we can expect new grille insert with the updated and slightly modified housings for the fog lights. More precisely, they will be smaller this time. Also, the lower grille will swap an X pattern for a grid. However, it still has the same purpose (airflow for cooling).
At the sides, this model will provide new wheels design. Their size will be 18-inch for the standard trim, and for the higher trim, we can expect the size of 20 inches. Besides new wheels, the profile side will provide updated lower character line. More precisely, it will continue behind the rear wheel and that will definitely give to the new Explorer Sport longer appearance. This model will also provide new exterior color choices. We can expect four 2018 Ford Explorer colors including Cinnamon Glaze, Blue Metallic, Platinum Dune Tricoat, and Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat. You can also choose between five wheels designs.
Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 117.3 inches Length 198.3 inches Width 78.3 inches Height 70 inches
The interior design will also receive some changes compared to the previous model. When it comes to design, everything will remain pretty much the same, but when it comes to technology department, there will be some upgrades. So, cosmetically, everything will be the same, and that is quite good considering the fact that the model for 2017 was very good inside. The leather is standard upholstery for the seats, and the comfort is on the highest level. The Company decides to update in-dash technology for 2018. Now, this model will be offered with the 4G LTE modem with a Wi-Fi hotspot. This hotspot can support even ten devices at once. Furthermore, the range of the Wi-Fi will be excellent 50 feet around the vehicle. We can also expect some upgrades with the SYNC system. More precisely, we can expect the addition of SYNC Connect.
Thanks to this new option, you can access to your Explorer using FordPass if you want to locate your car from anywhere in the world, or if you want to start, lock, or unlock the vehicle. The cabin will be able of accommodating up to six or seven passengers, depending on your choice for the second row (standard bench seat or optional captain’s chairs). Some of the other interior features will include SiriusXM radio, dual zone climate control, digital gauge cluster, panoramic moonroof, navigation, heated and cool leather seats, Bluetooth connectivity and many others as well.
Engine and Performance
Beneath the bonnet, the forthcoming and eagerly awaited vehicle will provide three choices. The standard engine will be Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. This engine will be capable of delivering up to 280 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm as well as 310 pound-feet of torque @ 3,000 rpm. Very good figures, but we must admit not as good as in the optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 unit. This second engine will be able of generating up to 365 ponies at 5,500 rpm as well as 350 pound-feet of torque at 3,500 rpm. We have one more engine option, and the word is about the 3.5-liter V-6 with the max power output of 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. All the engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission system with the paddle shifters. The power will be transferred to front wheels. However, if you want you can choose 4WD can. If you decide to add 4WD system, then you also get smart Terrain Management System which Ford developed.
When it comes to 2018 Ford Explorer Sport safety, this model is one of the best vehicles in this segment and compared to the previous Explorer which was also good in this segment, this one will be even better. We can expect so many safety features. Some of them will be new, while some will be updated. Some of the available safety systems will include Adaptive Cruise Control with the new brake support, Lane-Keeping System that will provide vibrating steering wheel as well as autonomous help, Blind Spot Information System, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Auto High-Beams. Also, if a crash happens, this model has so many airbags inside, but with all of these active safety features, we think that the crash is almost impossible.
Price and Release date
As we already mention, this model already debuted at the 2017 New York Auto Show. If you want, you are able to but it immediately. The starting price of this vehicle will be $45.355. Compared to its main competitors, this price is very good, and we think that the Ford will have so many successes with this model.
