2018 Ford Fiesta ST

Ford is now going to bring the third generation of its performance oriented mini hatchback model Fiesta ST. Although it will officially going to be debuted at the Geneva Motor Show but the details regarding the updated version have already been released by the Company. The new edition is promised to be more fuel efficient with the new engine installed under its hood. It will be available in both North America and European region. According to the European region’s Ford Development vice president, the new 2018 Ford Fiesta ST will feature enhanced powertrain and performance-oriented chassis with cutting-edge technological improvements.

2018 Ford Fiesta ST Exterior

The exterior of the upcoming Ford Fiesta ST is much like the ongoing 2017 Fiesta model with few improvements. This new variant will be available in two body styling, i.e. 3 doors and 5 door vehicle. It gets the sportier look with new grille design having honeycomb mesh and swooped headlamps and foglamps in black color. A new body-color ‘Liquid Blue’ has also been added for customers’ choice. The rear hatch features an exclusive ‘ST’ badge. The rear bumper has got double exhaust pipes and the big roof spoiler, bigger than the current Fiesta model. It has a wheelbase of 98.2 inches.

The interior of the new Fiesta ST has received more updates than its exterior. It has been redesigned having new style dashboard and center stack. The steering wheel is flat-bottomed and the AC vents are now square in shape instead of circular vents as in the previous model. The neatly trimmed Recaro seats with the finest upholstery add more comfort and class to the cabin. There is additional screen in the Instrument cluster to display the driving dynamics.

And if the customers want to spice up more, then there is a wide range of personalized options and styling to choose from. Options included not only for interior trim but also for the attractive dashboard, door pulls, steering wheel and much more. More details will be revealed by Ford at the later stage.
The 2018 Ford Fiesta ST features an SYNC 3 entertainment system paired up with eight inches floating touchscreen and can also be attuned with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. With SYNC 3 the driver by providing voice command can now manage connected smartphones, audio, and navigation. For enjoying high-quality music, B&O PLAY Sound System is also installed in the vehicle.

Engine and Suspension

Ford has replaced the usual 1.6 liters turbocharged Eco Boost Fiesta engine with 1.5 liters 3 cylinder turbocharged Eco Boost engine. Ford has first time utilized a 3 cylinder engine in any of its performance-oriented variant resulting in elevated torque at low rpm. The engine can produce 200 PS and 290 Nm of torque. The vehicle can reach from 0-62 mph in just 6.7 seconds. The engine while combining direct fuel injection with port fuel injection technology is supposed to reduce CO2 emission and increase pressure with high power delivery. The vehicle can now have enhanced understeer and road handling when cornering thanks to the improvised Torque Vectoring Control technology in support with the performance tweaked chassis.

Selectable Drive Modes

Ford has made its Fiesta ST more desirable with its new drive modes. The 3 modes Normal, Sport and Track work in coordination with steering, stability control and engine to enable the drivers to experience optimized driving on different routes and tracks.
• Normal Mode
Normal mode is ideal for routine driving. It provides the sense of connectivity with natural responsiveness while configuring the electronic power-assisted steering (EPAS), exhaust sound, engine mapping, electronic stability and traction control.
• Sport Mode
Sports mode is activated to enjoy fast road driving. Adjustments are made to electronic power assisted steering along with tweaked throttle pedal response and engine mapping to provide enhanced feedback, handling, and control.
• Track Mode
Track mode is enabled for rigid circuit driving. With loose ESC interference and disabled traction control, the active features are configured to bring out the quickest lap timings.

Price and Release date

The new 2018 Fiesta ST will be available at the dealership in the first quarter of 2018. The pricing has not been announced by the Company, however looking at the price of its predecessor, we can expect the price around £19,000.
