The 2019 Ford Edge EU is Ford’s most advanced medium-sized Sport Utility Vehicle meant for the European market. This car is expected to provide a number of sensor-based and impressive driver assistance technologies to its users in order to make their journeys less demanding and more comfortable. Some of these technologies include EVA (Evasive Steering Assist), PCB (Post Collision Braking), LCA (Lane Centering Assist), and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control).

The exterior design of this vehicle features minimal changes to the existing Ford Edge model. Some of these changes include a wider grille, new LED headlights, and a redesigned hood. The color-coded body for this car includes extensive side skirts. It also includes the 20-inch standard aluminum wheels which can be substituted with the 21-inch premium aluminum wheels. There is the dual exhaust feature that has the chrome finished tips. The horizontal bars will now get the black finish. The six standard 2019 Edge color options expected for this car include shadow black, white gold metallic, magnetic metallic, ingot silver metallic, oxford white, and blue metallic.

The interior design of the 2019 Ford Edge EU includes an ample cabin and cargo space. It also offers great visibility features to its users. The cabin includes friendly and high-quality materials to give this car a premium look and an invigorating design. There are enough cabin room and sufficient rear legroom for five passengers. The rear seats can be reclined further to give more comfort to its users. This car has a 3D fully configurable digital instrument collection that enables you to personalize the display layout to suit your needs.
The standard mirrors and cameras have been included to enable monitoring of blind-spots and to offer better visibility to the driver. The center console has been redesigned to include a new dial for the gear transmission system hence freeing up space and enhancing the revolutionary feel of this car. An electronic parking button has been included to replace the traditional parking brake lever. This creates more space for housing the storage box and adjustable cup holders. In fact, there is enough space to store toys, books, and tablets.
A new Sync 3 infotainment system has been included and it comes with support for Android Auto, Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. Users also get a chance to improve their audio experience using the new B&O PLAY. This is a premium sound system that exclusively comes with the EDGE models and it uses a Digital Sound Processor to control its 10 channels. This system equalizes the speakers and ensures uniform sound distribution within the cabin.

This mid-sized SUV has been upgraded to include two new engines. The first option is the EcoBlue 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine. This engine delivers the better driving performance, torque, and power like a larger sized engine. Its small capacity ensures efficient fuel economy and low emissions of gases since has powerful 235 horses. This car is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. With such speeds, you can comfortably cover a distance of 0.25 miles in about 14.3 seconds.
The remaining models within the Edge lineup will be switched to the EcoBlue 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0-liter engine is expected to have a more efficient fuel economy than its 3.5-liter predecessor. An automatic start/stop button will be included as a standard while two gear options will be offered.
The first option with 188 hp is the manual six-speed gear transmission system with AWD capabilities. The second option with 148 hp is the new automatic eight-speed gear transmission system with FWD capabilities. These gears have been designed to conform to the expectations of the European market. The five trim levels expected on the market include Titanium, Sport, SE, SEL, and the new ST trim.
The last and most interesting engine option is the EcoBoost 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, it should be also offered in Europe, but it is not confirmed yet. Anyhow, the power capability for the new EcoBoost engine is 335 hp while its torque is 380 lb-ft. Transmission is quick-shifting 8-speed automatic. This option will be exclusive to the Edge ST 2019 model.
Price and release date
The 2019 Ford Edge EU was revealed during the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. The revelations covered the new ST model, the revised Titanium, SE, and SEL trims. The car is expected to hit the market within the 3rd quarter of 2018. The basic SE model is expected to cost $32,210 while the well-equipped SEL model will cost $34,945. The loaded Titanium model will go for $38,920 while the new ST model is expected in the region of $41,670.
