The latest spy photos show that the 2020 Ford Escape (Kuga) is in the pipeline. The vehicle looks bigger than its predecessor pointing to a possibility of a bigger trunk or the inclusion of the third row of seats. This SUV seems like a refresh of the current Kuga/Escape model which has been on the market for about five years.
2020 Ford Escape Changes, Exterior
The exterior design of this car will be based an all-new platform. It is expected to have a slight increase in size as it can be seen from its enlarged wheel arches and extended rear overhang. The fuel cap seems to be transferred to the rear-left fender in a move similar to that of the Focus IV model. The rear bumper reveals a cutout for two exhaust tips that have been placed lower than its predecessor.

Ford Escape 2020 Interior
The 2020 Escape interior is slightly different than its current model. The backend is slightly longer and this is a sign of an enhanced trunk space or even a possible introduction of a third row. The cabin seems to be still under construction and the central air vents can be seen located on top of the dashboard. The car should come with some upgrades on its dashboard features including the smartphone integration, voice command interface, and tech interface.
The 2020 Ford Escape engine is expected to be either a 1.5-liter or a 2.0-liter option. The EcoBlue diesel engine for the Ford SUV is likely to offer you up to 148 horsepower and 188 hp. There is a possibility of getting 380 Nm engine for the 2020 Kuga RS model meant for the Germany market. The transmission system is expected to be an in-house 8-speed automatic gear. This car is being designed for better off-road capabilities to be able to tackle tougher terrains. There is also a possibility of Plug-In Hybrid powertrain being tested for this model. Rumors are about the combination between 1.5 engine with 148 hp, and electric motor, with 88 kW (est.) Combined power could be more than 200 ponies (around 220 hp).
Price and release date
The current Kuga (for Euro market) version underwent a facelift in 2017 and it is unlikely that the next generation model will be released immediately. The earliest time this car would be revealed to the market is 2020. In terms of price, the basic model should cost about $25,000 while the loaded model should cost slightly over $30,000.
