2018 Ford Fusion Review

The upcoming Ford Fusion has not been upgraded since its 2013 model. The car makers improved its interior, exterior and as well as its safety features, giving the new 2018 Ford Fusion luxury experience, great performance, and excellent grip. The Ford sedan can be a family car as well as a sports car. The new version is available in five trims, S, SE, Titanium, Platinum, and Sport. All trims are available in hybrid variant too, each having distinct features. Now it’s up to the drivers’ preference and requirement which trim he wants to select.

Ford Fusion 2018 Interior

The interior of the new 2018 Fusion is comfy yet stylish. The S trim offers the steering wheel covered in leather along with four-way passenger seat and six-way driver seat, both can be adjusted manually. The SE trim offers black fabric interior with medium stone stitching and vinyl boosting seats, with ten-way power driver seat and six-way power passenger seating. All trims have moonroof too. The SE package also offers leather-covered seats and the steering wheel is also covered with leather whereas the front seats also have the heating facility.

The driver seat is ten ways power adjustable with three memory settings. The Titanium trim has a lot more to offer including the leather-covered sports seats. With two memory settings, the driver seat is ten-way power adjustable with both fronts seats having heating facility although the cooling facility is optional that can be added if requested. Titanium Trim also has an HD radio and 12 speaker audio system.

Next-gen Ford Fusion Interior

The 2018 Ford Fusion Platinum trim comes with premium leather wrapped seats. Both the front seats can be power adjusted in ten different ways along with heating and cooling facilities. The V6 Sports trim added more specialty with Miko inserts sports seats in dark earth gray color and leather seating surfaces. The power driver’s seat is ten-way adjustable with two memory settings and passenger seats are six-way power adjustable.

The front seats offer heating facility and the cooling facility is optional. In trims S and V6 sports, the climate control is manual, whereas the Dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control (DEATC) is offered with Titanium and Platinum trims. All the trims feature SYNC 3 app which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2018 Ford Fusion Exterior

The 2018 Fusion has a modern exterior. The car offers chrome grille in all the five trims. It has 10 exterior colors that are as follows:
• Blue
• Ingot Silver
• Ruby red metallic tinted clear coat
• White platinum metallic tri-Coat
• Shadow black
• White gold
• Magnetic Lightning blue
• Oxford White
• Burgundy velvet metallic tinted clear coat

The higher trims like Titanium, platinum and V6 sports trims provide LED headlamps, while the trims S and SE offers only LED taillamps. All trims have LED Daytime Running Lights. The S trim offers 16, 17 and 18-inch silver painted aluminum wheels. The SE trim gets 17-inch silver/nickel and 18-inch magnetic painted aluminum wheels. The Titanium trim caters wheels in 18 and 19-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with magnetic painted pockets. The platinum trim allers wheels in 19-inch polished aluminum. And in the V6 sports got 19-inches there are premium dark / tarnish-painted alu wheels. All the 5 trims offer body-colored front and back bumper with body-colored side mirrors and door handles.

Engine

The new Fusion’s engine is upgraded. It offers the variety of engine for each trim. The S and SE trims have 2.5 liters 4 cylinder Duratec engine, which is able to produce 175 horsepower and a torque of 175 pounds-feet. Fuel economy is rated as 21 mpg in city and 32 mpg on the highway. Another engine option available with the SE trim is a 4 cylinder 1.5 liter Ecoboost engine producing a torque of 185 pounds-feet at 4,320 rpm and output of 181 horsepower. Fuel economy in the city is rated as 23 mpg and 34 mpg on the highway.

Another Ecoboost engine option is a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine with 240 horsepower and 270 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is specific for SE, Titanium and Platinum trim giving a fuel economy of 21/31 mpg in city/highway. The 2018 Ford Fusion Sports trim comes with a magnificent V6, 2.7 liter Ecoboost engine with 325 ponies output and a torque of 380 lb-ft. Fuel economy for this one is 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The 2018 Ford Fusion hybrid variant comes with Atkinson cycle 4 cylinder 2.4-liter petrol engine in combination with an electric motor. The combined output produce is 188 horsepower with the fuel economy of 43/41 mpg in city/highway.

Safety features

The new Ford Fusion 2018 is not only updated with basic safety features like child safety lock, Seatbelt pre-tensioners, airbags for front passengers and curtain airbags for rear seat passengers. It also has some special safety features which include:
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• The individual tire pressure monitoring system
• Lane Keeping Assist
• Rear view camera
• Blind Spot Monitoring
• Electronic stability control
• AdvanceTrac feature
• Active Park Assist.

Price and Release date

The prices of new Ford Fusion vary for each trim. The S trim cost starts from $22,215, SE trim price starts from $23,395, Titanium trims starts with $30,395, whereas the Platinum and Sports trims price starts from $36,895 and $33,750 respectively. The release date has not been revealed by the Company, however, it is expected to reach the dealership by summer 2018.
