A new Ford Focus was recently spied in Nurburgring, Germany. Having revealed the fourth-generation car for the European market a few days earlier, this new model is expected to be an ST-hatchback variant. Based on the details that were captured during the testing, this car is most likely to be unveiled next year as the 2020 Ford Focus ST model.
2020 Ford Focus ST Changes, Exterior
The car adopts a more straightened rear section than the standard Focus model and has a curved roofline. The size looks similar to the one that was launched recently (2019 Focus) but its wheelbase seems a bit longer. The design of this car seems to have departed slightly from its previous model which had attractive headlamps and LED light bar over the middle section. The visible features include deeper side sills, low-profile rubber wrapping for the wheels, and a top liftgate spoiler. In the front, there is a deep-seated hex-mesh grille and a broader lower air intake. Overall, the car adopts a more curvaceous styling similar to that of the Mazda 3 hatchback.
Ford Focus ST 2020 Interior
The interior of 2020 Focus ST looks slightly different from the current model. The cabin is dominated by an infotainment system that is placed at the top of the dash. It will ride on a modified C-platform that is expected to increase the cabin space and enhance NVH and safety features. There is a more premium feel inside the car with features like soft-touch plastic controls, modern styles, kit level, and 8-inch touch display. The over-styled interior now seems to be a thing of the past. You should expect a number of driver-assist features to be added to this car.
Ford is expected to restore the previous 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine whose horsepower strength is 275 hp and torque capabilities are 270 lb-ft. There is also a likelihood of a higher-output model using the 1.5-liter turbo engine (3-cyl). The six-speed manual transmission is expected for this release in addition to the recently introduced 8-speed automatic gear system.
Price and release date
2020 Focus ST is expected in the market somewhere in 2019 after the mainstream Focus car has been released. Its pricing is most likely to be in the region of $25,500 – $27,000.
